Luka Dončić is now the main guy in the Los Angeles Lakers after LeBron James left to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers. As Dončić and the Lakers prepare for the upcoming basketball season, the All-Star is facing a tough battle off the court with his ex-fiancée Anamaria Goltes.

TMZ shared the news that Goltes has filed a lawsuit in Slovenia and is seeking $50 million in a settlement. She's hoping to get $40 million for herself, with the remaining $10 million going to the former couple's two kids.

Goltes is also petitioning for a reduction in Dončić's custodial rights, from two days a week down to just one.

Recently, Goltes filed to withdraw her child support petition in Los Angeles, expressing a desire to resolve the matter "amicably and by a mutual agreement." It looks like that might also include a massive pay day, if the courts decide in her favor.

Dončić and Goltes had been together for ten years before ending their engagement earlier in 2026. Their daughters, currently two years old and seven months old, live in Slovenia.

Dončić has been spending the summer in his home country to be closer to his kids as he fights this custody battle. He's also welcoming his fellow Laker teammates for a minicamp later in August.

Last summer, Dončić and the Lakers agreed to a three-year, $165 million maximum contract extension. The Lakers had sent Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Dončić in February 2025, a move that shocked NBA fans and analysts alike. After the season ended, Los Angeles moved to lock up Dončić to a longer deal.

That deal officially starts this upcoming season. If Dončić winds up losing this settlement, he'll pay Goltes his entire NBA salary of $49.4 million, plus an additional $600,000.

To date, Dončić made has made a little over $198 million in his NBA career. He actually lost some money when he got traded to the Mavericks, both in the form of a reworked contract and in the amount of years and dollars he was able to sign for.

Dončić's new Lakers deal has a player option for the 2028-29 season. If Dončić opts out, he could sign a contract worth 35% of the NBA salary cap. Based on current salary cap projections, that would be $417 million over five seasons.

We'll see how Dončić and Goltes's situation shakes out. Most people would be devastated to fork over $50 million, but Dončić at least has the ability to recoup it in the not-too-distant future.
