Police received reports of a stabbing on Franklin Avenue, in the downtown area of Fort McMurray, at 8:49 p.m. on August 10.

The suspect, who was driving an orange Nissan Kicks, is alleged to have fled the scene before police arrived, but was later found and arrested after RCMP obtained video footage and a description.

Police confirm in a news release that the alleged stabbing victim was transported to the Northern Lights Regional Centre, but suffered only minor injuries.

Bella Tizya, 61, is facing several charges including assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Tizya has since been released from custody and is set to appear in court on September 16, 2026.
