Pixel Watch 5 Brings new Health Features, More Accurate GPS

Google has introduced its newest smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 5, with a long list of improvements over the Pixel Watch 4. The watch's GPS system now compensates for nearby buildings and real-time weather conditions when calculating location. Google claims this offers 2x accuracy in challenging environments, outperforming high-end competing smartwatches. New health features include Breathing Emergency Detection, which can automatically alert emergency services when it detects a breathing emergency (via low oxygen saturation and other sensors) and you are unresponsive. It also uses AI to track long-term health trends such as blood pressure, sleep breathing quality, and insulin resistance, and offer monthly reports that can "illuminate metabolic, respiratory and cardiovascular shifts early". Google Health Coach is also introducing new strength-training features, and will make suggestions based on weather, such as an indoor workout during a heat wave. Google claims its sleep-stage tracking is now 15% more accurate. Pixel Watch 5 will now automatically pause an audiobook if you drift off. New AI features will attempt to anticipate your next action and make it one-step. For example, "If a loved one asks when is the dinner with family", a quick double-pinch hand gesture will send a reply with that info from your calendar. Google also claims the watch has an "industry-leading" repairable architecture. Pixel Watch 5 is available for pre-order starting today, and will be on shelves August 20, starting at $399 for the 41mm size, and $429 for the 45mm size.
