Pamela Anderson has made a huge career change as she aims to become the next Sir David Attenborough after launching her birdwatching channel EarthDay 365.

The channel, which was founded by the Baywatch star, 56, offers 2,500 hours of shows on nature.

The channel began on Pluto TV in the US two months ago and has now been snapped up by streaming service Amazon Freevee.

The actress has been left 'thrilled' by the 'positive' response to her free channel.

Pamela said: 'I wanted to create something for people who are more attached to nature. I just thought this was like a perfect alignment.

Sir David Attenborough, 97, is famous for presenting incredible nature shows

'I'm so thrilled that we are receiving such a positive response to EarthDay 365, providing even more viewers with this incredibly beautiful and inspiring content for free.'

It will screen specials like Russell Crowe's Turtle Odyssey, Jurassic Park's Sam Neill film Sea Lions, plus Journey To Space with Patrick Stewart.

Pamela has long been an advocate for environmental causes and has binned her bombshell image and begun to shun make-up and glamour.

She has been making waves for her makeup-free complexions, both on and off the red carpet.

She previously told Variety: 'I finally feel like I'm able to show a bit of what I'm made of and not settling for 'that's all there is.'

'So this is the time to really embrace who I am. Myself.

'I think you can kind of live in a character, and you start believing what other people say about you.

'I've finally been able to strip all that away and feel really free.

'So this has been an incredible time for me and I'm happy with where things are.'

Earlier this month, Pamela was 'thrilled' to announce her first cookbook I Love You by Pamela Anderson: Recipes from the Heart will officially hit shelves on October 15.

Inspired by her rustic lifestyle at her family's Vancouver Island estate, the Baywatch alum's 288-page cookbook features over 80 'homegrown and world-influenced' plant-based recipes as well as tips on sustainable design and gardening.

Curiously, the Instagram slideshow Pamela teased about her literary 'labor of love' only showed only one recipe, a peach pie.

Anderson's cookbook originated as a housewarming gift of 'a box of recipe cards marked "I Love You"' for her sons - Brandon Thomas Lee and Dylan Jagger Lee - and their girlfriends.

'It grew into a project that encapsulates all our favorite things. A lifestyle cookbook; nothing fancy,' the RE/DONE collaborator - who boasts 4.2M Instagram/Facebook followers - explained.

'And entertaining with a humble kind of joy. It celebrates the magic of scenic settings where nature always has a proud seat at the table. I can't wait for it to be in all of your homes, from our family to yours.'
