Sheffield United have reportedly entered the race for Hibernian hitman Kevin Nisbet as Chris Wilder seeks added firepower to lead their safety bid.

The Blades lie well adrift at the bottom of the Premier League table, 11 points behind Burnley in 17th having taken just two points from their first 15 games.

And with just eight goals scored so far in the campaign, Wilder has identified Nisbet as his main target in the January window, according to The Sun.

They report that Wilder's planned overhaul next month will focus on low-cost players after big outlays since their Premier League promotion in 2019. 

The 23-year-old has 12 goals in 24 appearances so far for Hibs, after joining in a £250,000 deal from Dunfermline in the summer.

United have managed only a combined six goals from their strikers this season, with only Oli McBurnie (one), Billy Sharp (one) and David McGoldrick (four) finding the back of the net. 

Lys Mousset and Oliver Burke have all fired blanks, while Rhian Brewster is still waiting to get off the mark despite his £23.5m arrival in October.

Nisbet, though, is a man in form in front of goal and has netted 69 times in 102 games over the past two-and-a-half years.
