Jude Bellingham has become the latest victim of yet more disgusting racist abuse on social media after sharing a screen grab of emojis sent to him.

The 17-year-old midfielder had featured for Borussia Dortmund in their 2-2 draw at fellow Bundesliga side Cologne on Saturday afternoon before sharing the screenshot on Instagram.

The England international posted the abhorrent abuse he had received with a short yet concise message which said: 'Just another day on social media...'

The Bundesliga side and the FA have both come out in support of Bellingham following his post.

England tweeted: 'We continue to be disgusted by the discriminatory abuse our players - and others across the game - are being subjected to online. Something needs to change. We stand with you, @BellinghamJude.'

Meanwhile, Dortmund tweeted: 'We stand with you @BellinghamJude. Racism belongs nowhere #BorussiaVerdindet'.

The abuse directed at Bellingham came in the last game for Dortmund before the international break.

He has been included in Gareth Southgate's latest England squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers next week, but regional travel restrictions in Germany due to coronavirus are likely to stop him from participating.

Southgate said: 'We don't know [what part Bellingham could play next week]. We've left him in the squad. At this moment in time it looks as though we won't be able to take him.

'The quarantine rules in Germany looked like they'll rule him out. But, as we're seeing, those rules can change so quickly and while we're still investigating what's possible we wanted to name him in the squad.

'We've got a really good relationship with Dortmund so no issues between us and the club.'

Bellingham made his Three Lions debut back in November, becoming the third-youngest senior Three Lions star as a result.

Dortmund's draw against struggling Cologne meanwhile was another blow to their Champions League hopes, as they now sit four points behind Eintracht Frankfurt in fourth and some 18 points behind leaders Bayern Munich.

Rhian Brewster spoke out about abuse he had received, while Kemar Roofe was also targeted

The news of the abuse comes just a couple of days after Rangers' Kemar Roofe was targeted online following his red card in their Europa League exit at the hands of Slavia Prague.

Sheffield United also commended Rhian Brewster for coming forward and revealing he had suffered racist abuse, stating: 'As a club we applaud Rhian for bringing this disgusting message to light.

'We will now support him and work with him, the Premier League and all the relevant authorities to ensure the person behind this post is brought to justice.'
