One of Australia's most prestigious schools has been accused of not yet taking action after a teenage boy was allegedly physically and verbally abused by fellow students.

Police launched an investigation after the 17-year-old from The Scots College received an invitation to a private Snapchat group and arranged to meet a group of peers in Sydney's east in December.

Instead, he was allegedly ambushed and led to a secluded area near Woollahra Golf Club in Rose Bay, where he was forced to hold a flag and march through a human tunnel.

NSW Police confirmed to Daily Mail that five teenage boys were spoken to, adding that investigations continue.

'Inquiries into the incident by detectives from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command continue,' a statement said.

'Five teenage boys have been dealt with under the Young Offenders Act in relation to the matter.'

But more than seven weeks on, the boy's mother, Trish, has claimed that little action has yet been taken as he prepares to return to school next Wednesday.

'He's very, very stressed, very anxious about going back next week. He doesn't know how it's going to look,' Trish told 2GB's Ben Fordham on Friday.

A 17-year-old boy from The Scots College was allegedly ambushed in December and assaulted by his peers in what he was told would be a 'coming of age' ritual

His mother, Trish, claimed she has not heard from Scots College regarding action to be taken before her son returns to school next week

'I can't confirm exactly what's going to happen next week and how he's going to ultimately be protected and reintroduced back into the school.'

She claimed there had been a lack of communication from the senior leadership team since the alleged incident, which she described as 'very worrying'.

'I was told at the end of last year that, before the end of school, they would come back to me with a plan,' Trish said.

'I sent a message yesterday to one of the investigators... The response I got back was [they] understand a member of the senior leadership team was to be in contact.

'I feel that the school has failed to demonstrate how they're going to protect my son going forward.

'It's not just about my son. It's about the school assuring all parents that their sons are protected within the school grounds.'

The Daily Mail has contacted The Scots College for comment.

Following the incident, disturbing footage shared with the Snapchat group showed the boy holding a flag as he walked through the line of students.

The distraught boy later told police he was verbally abused and called a 'fat f***'

The students were seen pushing and slapping him on the back before throwing beer over him.

The distraught boy later told police he was verbally abused and called a 'fat f***' before he managed to escape.

He also recalled the experience in a letter read out by Fordham on his program on December 10, saying: 'One kid even told me I had to go or I would be kicked out of a programme I was part of.'

'But that inclusion was a trap. I was ambushed, physically restrained and humiliated.

'The most terrifying part is that I thought I was finally going to have fun and some friends at school.'

Founded in 1893, fees for the exclusive school based in Bellevue Hill start from $27,240 and go up to $46,920 for a Year 12 student.
