A private school teacher allegedly sent 'revenge porn' images of teenage girls to his own students, according to a lawsuit filed by the girls in federal court. 

Math teacher Winston Nguyen is named in the suit seen by the New York Times, which states that the girls in the naked images were 13 when he first contacted them. 

They were not students at Saint Ann's, an elite school in Brooklyn which charges $60,000 per year for tuition, and counts Lena Dunham, Jennifer Connelly, and Jean-Michel Basquiat among its star-studded alumni. 

Nguyen, 39, was sentenced last year to seven years in jail after pleading guilty to a felony charge of using a child in a sexual performance and five misdemeanors. 

The new lawsuit claims that Nguyen impersonated a teenage boy online and built a Snapchat community of Saint Ann's students, along with pupils from other private schools in the New York City area. 

Nguyen chatted with the girls, who were younger than 17, via Snapchat while he was teaching in the classroom, sending increasingly explicit and sexual messages. 

He told one girl that she 'made him horny' and he wanted 'a blowjob', according to the complaint, while telling another that he wanted a threesome with her. 

Nguyen allegedly sent masturbation videos and 'pushed both girls for explicit pictures', including full-frontal nudity. This escalated to him asking for videos of them 'engaged in sexual acts,' according to the suit.  

'The girls felt pressure to comply because they perceived Nguyen to be a peer in their social circles with significant social clout given his account's large network of Saint Ann's connections,' the complaint reads. 

When the girls cut contact with the teacher, he began sharing nude photographs of them with other students in revenge. 

According to the complaint, Saint Ann's knew about the revenge porn circulating and Nguyen's history of misconduct, but did not report the incidents to police. 

The school was humiliated in December when it emerged in court that Nguyen was given a second chance in 2020 after he was convicted on fraud charges.  

But just four years later, Nguyen was arrested again - sending the prep school spiraling into a PR crisis.

St Ann's has built a reputation as one of the best prep schools in New York for wealthy creative students.

Nguyen was hired as an administrative aide in 2020, just one year after he was convicted for fraud for stealing more than $300,000 from an elderly couple while employed as their home health support.

Maureen 'Mo' Yusuf-Morales, the Head of the Upper Middle School at Saint Ann's and an experienced DEI trainer, had pushed for him to be given a chance, despite his past crimes.

He had declared to the administrator that he was a convicted felon, and according to the New York Times at least one of the school leaders vehemently opposed the decision to hire him regardless.

And yet, he was given a second shot, climbing his way through the ranks to ultimately earn a math teaching gig by 2021 at a school known for unorthodox teaching methods.

He also taught a seminar called 'Crime and Punishment.'

Parents were not alerted to Nguyen's criminal record, but students quickly discovered news articles about his initial crime on the internet.

When parents expressed concerns to the school, they were dismissed. In October 2021, head of school Vince Tompkins sent an email which assured families 'as with any teacher we hire, we are confident in Winston's ability and fitness to educate and care for our students.'

Multiple parents and witnesses later reported they feared they'd be branded 'racist' or 'not progressive enough if they raised a substantive concern about a person of color.'

Then in 2022, students at both Saint Ann's and other private schools within Brooklyn began reporting that they were receiving solicitations via Snapchat for inappropriate photos and videos.

Some of these students were as young as 13. The District Attorney's office alerted Saint Ann's in February 2024 that an investigation was taking place into the anonymous account. Parents were not notified.

Nguyen, who competed in and won Jeopardy in 2014, was ultimately arrested in June 2024 and charged with a litany of offences.
