It was another entertaining day at Wimbledon, with plenty of notable events both on and off the court. 

Rafael Nadal produced a stunning comeback to reach the semi-finals where he will meet Nick Kyrgios in a mouth-watering clash to make the final. While Simona Halep and Elena Rybakina also sealed their place in the women's semi-final.

BY ROYAL APPOINTMENT? 

Debbie Jevans, who reached the fourth round of Wimbledon in 1979, losing to Virginia Wade, has emerged as a frontrunner to become the first female chairman of the All England Club. 

Interesting, therefore, to see Jevans strategically sitting beside Kate Middleton on Court One on Tuesday while watching British No 1 Cameron Norrie. The 62-year-old has held various roles in sport, including acting as chief executive of England’s 2015 Rugby World Cup organising committee, although she raised eyebrows by quitting that job less than six months before the tournament’s start.

BALL BOY COSTS 

Want to dress like a ball boy? You’re in luck if you’ve got a spare £267. That’s £109 for the blue-and-white striped polo shirt, £109 for the dark blue shorts, and £49 for the cap, all by Ralph Lauren and available in the Wimbledon shop. 

Still, it could be worse. A line judge’s cardigan will set you back £265, while an umpire’s blazer costs £785.

BRITAIN'S MYSTERY GIRL 

British hopes in the juniors are now resting on Jasmine Conway, a little-known 17-year-old wildcard who’s reached the quarter finals in the girls’ singles. Wimbledon’s website doesn’t tell us much. 

Birthplace? ‘N/A.’ Residence? ‘N/A.’ Height? Weight? Coach? All ‘N/A’. But she’s won three matches, all without dropping a single set, and is making a name for herself at SW19.

AUSSIE NOT GOING HOME YET 

Ajla Tomljanovic will feature in the quarter finals today despite not being happy that she had to find new digs because her dad Ratko only booked her hotel until Friday. She felt it showed he had no faith in her. 

Ratko said in his defence: ‘Ajla, hungry rats swim the fastest.’ To which she replied: ‘Well, I’m not a rat and I’m not hungry. I just want my house from the beginning until the end.’

FAME TIPS FOR EMMA 

Emma Raducanu has been urged to seek advice from Russian Maria Sharapova, who won Wimbledon aged 17 in 2004, about how to handle the trappings of fame.

Teenage Raducanu has signed sponsorship deals with nine brands - including Porsche, Tiffany and Dior - since winning the US Open aged 18 in 2021.. The advice to speak to Sharapova comes from Marion Bartoli, the former Wimbledon winner who believes the Brit would benefit from that conversation.

REMEMBER THE NAMES 

Over on Court No 7, British wildcard duo Hannah Klugman, 13 years old, and Hephzibah Oluwadare, 14, won 6-4, 6-3 to reach the next round of the girls’ doubles. 

Wimbledon-born Klugman has a great many admirers and tennis agents scrambling to snap her up.
