Leon Edwards has rejected Dana White's plan for him to face Colby Covington in his next title defence.
'Rocky' won a majority decision against Kamaru Usman in a thrilling five-round clash at UFC 286 at a packed out O2 Arena.
Covington was the back-up and made weight on Friday. White said after Edwards' win that 'Chaos' would be next, words that were then put to the champion.
'I don't know how Colby makes sense,' he said. 'He hasn't fought for more than a year and half.
'There are other active guys in the division. I'm the king now, I've earned my way and should decide who is next.

Edwards rejected Dana White's plan to have him fight Colby Covington next
'Pay-per-view wise if Jorge Masvidal beats Gilbert Burns, that's the fight to make. I had to fight 12 times for a title shot and he said he didn't know who I was.
'I'm the king, I'll decide who is next. Masvidal, I don't like him so that's the one I want. I think it would be an easy fight for me, he's a weirdo.'
'Colby hasn't been fighting, not injured either so how does he deserve it. There's no storyline for the Colby fight, it's weird.'
Masvidal and Burns face off in April at UFC 287 and Edwards wants to exact revenge on 'Gamebred' having been sucker-punched behind the scenes back in 2019.
It will be fascinating to see whether Edwards backs up his insistence that Covington needs to earn his shot, even if it is against the will of his paymasters.
Covington was on his feet in the crowd on Saturday night, staring down his rivals who were battling away in the octagon.
Clearly he is angling for the title shot but it remains to be seen if his wish will be granted.

'Rocky' was pleased to showcase his skills, where he felt the altitude in the second fight stifled him. He went on: 'It shows how much I've improved. Couldn't do it in Utah because of the altitude.
'Kamaru is a great opponent but I believe it is my time. It meant the world to me, I've overcome so much in my career, you all know that. To finally have earned my respect the hard way is even more satisfying.'
He concluded: 'Every kid's dream is to live this moment out. I believe this is my era. I've not lost a fight in eight or so years.
'The crowd were crazy all week, madness shouting 'head shot, dead'.'
