Diego Simeone's side continue with their abysmal home form and are now just two points inside the Champions League places. 

Real Madrid continue their march to the title with a former Chelsea defender crucial once more. 

Elsewhere, Barcelona can ONLY win anything with kids, and Brahim Diaz will not be playing for Spain.

Atletico Madrid – we barely noticed they were here!

Kudos to Alberto Barbero's match report in Marca: 'Atlético is the visitor who is literally no bother at all. They arrive on time, they come bearing gifts (often several), and they hardly consume anything, and they leave early.' 

Pretty much sums up the team who lost again on the road on Saturday, against Cadiz... who had not won in 23 games.

Simeone's team have picked up 40 points from a possible 42 at the Metropolitano in Madrid, and only 15 from a possible 42 away. 

It's a good job they face Inter in the Champions League on Wednesday at home.

Former Southampton dud has scored everywhere else he's been

It was striker Juanmi who got both the goals in the 2-0 win against Simeone's side. 

He neither started nor scored in 12 appearances for Southampton in the 2015-16 season. 

But he's delivered everywhere else he's been and after his brace against Atletico he now has three goals in four starts giving the strugglers hope of escaping relegation.

Barça can't win anything without the kids

Centre-back Pau Cubarsi only turned 17 in January and winger Lamine Yamal will not be 17 until July. 

Without them Barcelona would no have won on Friday against Mallorca.

Xavi with only one eye on his own team

It's a stretch to say Barça can be such difficult viewing that even coach Xavi would rather watch something else but he certainly had another game on in his private box at Montilivi during Friday night's meeting with Osasuna. 

The coach – suspended, so not on the touchline – had a good excuse. He had one eye on the Napoli game. 

They were also playing Friday and will be Barça's rival in the Champions League on Tuesday. 

It still felt strange for the coaching staff to have another game on while Barça were in action.

Savio's leaving gift before he begins life at City will be the Champions League

Girona play Europe's Final Countdown at half time at their modest Montilivi ground. 

After beating Osasuna 2-0 on Saturday night it now really is the final countdown to Europe. 

The sensational Savio is leaving them at the end of the season but he is determined to leave them in the Champions League. 

The Manchester City bound winger got the brilliant second to make it 10 at home without defeat.

Even the theatrics can't help desperate Granada

Real Sociedad were 2-1 down away at struggling Granada and home keeper Augusto Batalla was doing everything within his power to ensure his team got the win, including going down at possible opportunity complaining of injury and requesting attention from the Granada physios. 

It was not lost on anyone that when Andre Silva put Real Sociedad 3-2 up with five minutes left, not only did Batalla's ailments seem to clear up, but he was in sufficient physical shape to sprint forward for a late corner. 

Granada are desperate, as relegation begins to look like a formality.

Rudiger the best defender in LaLiga

It took a year for him to really settle but the former Chelsea defender is now head and shoulders above the rest in Spain. 

That includes when he is jumping for attacking corners – producing two goals in Sunday's win. Madrid have conceded just 18 goals. 

The next best defensive record is Athletic Club with 26 and it's Rudiger that has held that back line together.

Spanish master of LaLiga stats Pedro Martin tweeted on Sunday night that every team with more than a five point advantage with 10 games to go ends up winning the league. 

Real Madrid are seven points clear of second placed Girona with 10 left.

Madrid's Diaz goes where he's wanted

Former Manchester City forward Brahim Diaz was lively again on Sunday replacing the suspended Jude Bellingham. 

After the game it was announced that the 24-year-old has picked Morocco over Spain, in large part because Spain coach Luis de la Fuente never called him. 

If his bursts of skill and energy are good enough for Real Madrid, it's hard to understand whey they are not wanted by Spain.
