Unless you’re someone particularly interested in the latest trainer trends, scrolling the most popular page of Office's sneaker offerings reads like a foreign dictionary. From  Aloha Tb.490 Rifes and Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66s to Adidas’s catchily named SL 72 OGs, it’s no wonder shoppers are bamboozled with what to buy from one season to the next.

If you’re just as lost, we’ve got some good news. Looking through pictures from this fashion month and recent celeb street-style snaps, we’ve peeped a ‘90s staple making a comeback. Not only is the name easier to remember, but we’re betting you’ve probably got a pair shoved at the back of your closet.

Enter the Converse All Star, an ever familiar hi-top that was the uniform for every ‘90s emo kid. The design is actually more than 100 years old, having been first conceptualised by Converse legend and basketball player Chuck Taylor. By 2000, they brand had sold more than 600 million pairs, but they began to fall out of favour  as we came to favour low tops with a snugger, more athletic fit.

Well, get out your Fall Out Boy CD and grab your penny board, because it seems we’re reversing course. It began when bona fide style icon Alexa Chung wore a battered old pair of cream All Stars with white jeans and a red cardigan, sharing a stylish snap on Instagram.

Then came Kendall Jenner’s pairing black All Stars with straight-leg blue jeans, and Olivia Rodrigo posing in the iconic style and a bright red jumper. They even got the brat seal of approval in a steamy Charli XCX campaign, featuring dozens of strewn about Converse (and a distinct lack of trousers).

When it comes to styling, we’re steering clear of the low-rise skinny jeans and band tee combo of yesteryear. Instead, smarten them up for the office by pairing with a chic duster coat and a straight-leg jean or trouser like stylish influencer Anouk Yven. And coming into spring, we’ll admit it: we still have a soft spot for converse and shorts à la Kaia Gerber.

The best bit? They’re way cheaper than most trendy trainers, starting at £65 (some versions created with special materials are a bit pricier). Shop the OG black ones here on the basis they show less mud – or rescue the pair you hid in the attic back in 2004.
