Tate McRae pushes boundaries of family friendly fare with VERY steamy VMAs performance

The performance turned titillating as she seductively bounced about a giant sand box, her backup dancers - clad in little more than speedos and glitter - worshipping the ground she walked on.

Tate McRae brought a heatwave to this year's MTV VMAs

The songstress injected a spicy touch to the awards show as she delivered a steamy performance of Revolving Door and Sports Car.

Flanked by hunky backup dancers resembling Greek gods, Tate, 22, worked her magic in sexy white crop top and hot pants for a show that soon turned steamy.

She seductively bounced about a giant sand box while her backup dancers - clad in little more than speedos and shimmer - followed her.

Tate - who worked the red carpet in a sheer dress - strutted across the stage with a smooth finesse.

She finished off the performance on the floor, contorting her body in a sensual manner as flames erupted in the background.

The performance delighted fans attending in person and those watching from the comfort of their homes, with thunderous cheers heard in the background.

Tate received overwhelming positive response to her performance, with fans hailing her as the next Britney Spears (a comparison she has previously received).

A fan of the sexy sight gushed: 'Tate McRae was so f**king hot in the performance, I loved it so much!'

Tate was one of the big names winning an award tonight.

She was nominated twice for Song of the Summer, ultimately winning the category for Just Keep Watching. (Her track with Morgan Wallen, What I Want, was also nominated for this honor).

Tate also won Best Editing for Just Keep Watching, but lost out on nominations for Best Visual Effects, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Artist.

McRae was also up for Song of the Year, Best Pop Artist, Best Editing, and Best Visual Effects, all of which she also lost out on.

Doja Cat kicked off the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards in style with a performance of her latest single Jealous Type that featured plenty of style direct from the 1980s.

The 29-year-old rapper and singer put on a sizzling display that showcased her shockingly flexible figure as she performed at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.

At one point, Doja (real name: Amala Dlamini) writhed about on the stage floor as she bent her leg back directly over her head in a particularly sultry display.

The hitmaker heavily leaned on '80s references at the start of her performance, which she introduced in a glitchy video inspired by Max Headroom that lived up to its hacker influences by interrupting the host, LL Cool J.

Doja wore a rubbery black suit with a white shirt and slim black tie, and she wore a wig of plastic-like wavy hair inspired by Matt Frewer's original look as the computer-generated host.

Immediately after the introduction, as the first notes of Jealous Type began to play, she brought out another figure who rose to prominence in the '80s: the controversial smooth jazz icon Kenny G.

He embellished the melody on his soprano saxophone as Doja descended from the heavens on a curving hot pink chaise longue.

The evening's second performance belonged to rising star Lola Young.

The English singer channeled Amy Winehouse with a soulful rendition of her 2024 Messy, which eschewed a large production in favor of a relaxed performance with her band.

Ricky Martin follower her up with a medley of some of his most popular tunes before he was honored with the Latin Icon Award.

He kicked off his mini set with his iconic mega-hit Livin’ La Vida Loca.

One of the VMAs' most high-profile performances belonged to Busta Rhymes.

The rap icon was being honored as the first-ever recipient of the Rock the Bells Visionary Award.

He performed a triumphant medley with some of his most iconic songs, including Gimme Some More, Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See, Touch It, Pass the Courvoisier Part II — which was recently sampled by Tyler, the Creator — and A Tribe Called Quest's Scenario, which was a breakout moment for Rhymes, who was only 19 when he appeared on the track.

Joining him on stage were his regular sidekick, DJ Scratch, and GloRilla.

Next up was Sabrina Carpenter, who promoted her new album Man's Best Friend by performing its single Tears.

The hitmaker, who mostly sauntered across the stage while her backup dancers kept the energy up, departed from the formula for a 'dance break' at the end in which sprinklers rained down on her as she joined the ensemble

Mariah Carey, 56, highlighted her youthful figure in a bodysuit covered in rhinestones that highlighted her hourglass figure

All eyes were on Lady Gaga when she made her long-awaited return to the award show after a five-year absence. She pre-taped her performance from her six-night run at Madison Square Garden

She showed off her sense of humor by emerging from a manhole cover labeled 'SABRINA' onto a stage designed to look like a charmingly dirty New York City alley populated by drag queens and voguing backup dancers.

The hitmaker, who mostly sauntered across the stage while her backup dancers kept the energy up, departed from the formula for a 'dance break' at the end in which sprinklers rained down on her as she joined the ensemble.

Carpenter ripped off her tiered and tasseled top to reveal a shimmering bra decorated with dangling strands of beads and jewels as she gyrated in the rain.

Mariah Carey went on to add a touch of glamour to the performances.

She was introduced by a fellow diva, Ariana Grande, before launching into a medley of her career-defining tunes, including Honey, We Belong Together and her massively popular Fantasy, which was performed in the remixed version featuring Ol' Dirty Bastards verses piped in from beyond the grave.

Carey parodied her reputation for giving low-energy performances by opening her set seated on a chaise longue in a boudoir set.

The 56-year-old singer highlighted her youthful figure in a bodysuit covered in rhinestones that highlighted her hourglass figure as she launched into Fantasy, though it was just a snippet of the original song.

The 2025 MTV VMAs kicked off in fantastic form as Lady Gaga took home the first Moon Person of the night.

The 39-year-old performer earned the major win as they upset megastar Taylor Swift in the coveted Artist of the Year category at the star-studded award show on Sunday night.

In addition to Taylor, she triumphed over a very impressive list of music's biggest stars including: Bad Bunny, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Morgan Wallen, and The Weeknd.

The Mayhem artist got candid about what it meant to her to earn the award during her acceptance speech as she candidly talked about what being an artist means to her.

She said: 'I thought about what it means to be rewarded for being an artist, being rewarded for something that is already so rewarding. Being an artist is an attempt to connect the souls of people all over the world.

'Being an artist is a discipline, a craft meant for reaching into someone's heart, where it grows its roots and reminding them to dream. Being an artist is responsibility to make the audience smile. Dance, cry, released at any turn. It's a method of building understanding and celebrating community.

Gaga also stressed the importance of art in everyone's life and reminded all of her fans to count on themselves and their skills.

She went on to thank her fans known as the 'Little Monsters' before thanking her fiance Michael Polansky.

Gaga concluded her acceptance speech: 'I dedicate this award to the audience. You very much deserve a stage to shine on, and I give you all my applause.

'Thank you, little monsters, my fans. For always supporting me and always supporting the monster in me. A partner in all things, Michael. Creating this year with you was a beautiful, beautiful dream. And you have been my partner every step of the way.'I dedicate this to you too, my love. I wish I could stay and enjoy all these performances but I have to go back to Madison square garden. Thank you.'
