We’re going to be real with you. The internet sucks right now. Traffic is down due to a variety of factors, like Google AI mode. You’ve probably noticed fewer articles running per day on Siliconera, and by fewer writers. In an effort to try and keep serving you with all the great news, reviews, previews, playtests, and interviews that we have in the past, we are reviving Siliconera+. For $1.99, you get no ads and other bonuses. We’re hoping that, if enough people subscribe, we could use that additional income to help support the site and feature more articles per week.

So, what do you get for $1.99? We want to offer more than just “no ads.” This means two additional features to start:

1. Automatic monthly entry in a contest for a free game. Each month, we’ll give away one PC game to one random Siliconera+ subscriber. (The one for November 2025 will be the PC version of Hades 2.) People who don’t subscribe are also able to enter via a form found in our free monthly newsletter, which you can sign up for at any time. The link to enter for free will appear in that email that shows up on the last Friday of every month.
2. Monthly survey to help suggest future news and feature coverage. On the last day of each month, the members-only article that announces the free game contest for the next month and winner of the previous month’s game will include a survey that allows you to help weigh in on what we could cover. This will also include an open-ended “any other feedback” short answer portion for additional outreach. While we will still prioritize some topics we know bring in traffic (like Hatsune Miku, Sanrio, and some figure and anime stories), this will allow you to offer additional insight into things we might have otherwise missed.

When you sign-up for Siliconera+, a two-month free trial will take effect. This lets you enjoy the membership benefits and no ads for 60 days. After those 60 days expire, it will then cost $1.99 per month.

Now, we know in the past we had a Siliconera+ ad-free subscription tier that ended up not working out/working well. Part of that was due to the technology, as well as the transition between ownership, meaning some elements got last in the shift. Throughout October 2025, we’ve been testing this internally and think we’ve gotten all the bugs worked out.
