The CPD module 'Human-Animal Inclusive Practice' is designed to equip human services practitioners with the skills to recognise the interconnections between human and animal welfare and incorporate them into their practice.

Pets are often considered important attachment figures, providing emotional support and being valued members of the family. For many adults and children, relationships with animals can have a significant impact on wellbeing, resilience, and recovery. However, research indicates a strong correlation between the abuse of animals and people alongside child and domestic abuse and broader family issues.

The CPD module 'Human-Animal Inclusive Practice: An interdisciplinary approach' is worth 30 Master-level credits and is delivered remotely over 6 sessions between late Oct 2026 and mid April 2027. It is designed to equip human services practitioners with the skills to recognise the interconnections between human and animal welfare, incorporate these insights into their routine practice, and strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration.

Available to professionals in the UK and overseas, learning is through synchronous (ie. live) online lectures, seminars, case-based learning, facilitated discussions, practice application seminars, independent learning, experiential learning through a practice-based learning task in a veterinary or animal welfare setting, and tutorial support.

For more details or to book your place, visit the CPD in Social Work web page.
