Google has released the list of sessions for I/O 2026, outlining the main topics planned for the two-day event on May 19 and 20 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. The keynote is scheduled to start on May 19 at 1 PM ET (10 AM PT) and will be available via livestream. Attendance for developers is limited to those selected through a lottery or invitation system.

Android 17 and Adaptive Everywhere Sessions

Android 17 is set to be a major session lasting about 45 minutes on May 19. Google's description mentions updates to performance, new features for media and camera apps, enhancements for desktop and large-screen applications, and automation features.

The following day, there is a separate session focusing on Android 17's "Adaptive Everywhere" approach. This initiative aims to enable users to seamlessly transition between phones, cars, living rooms, and immersive environments. Google has indicated that this strategy extends across Android, ChromeOS, and XR, all under a unified platform.

AI, Chrome, and What’s Still Not Confirmed

An AI-focused session is scheduled for 3:30 PM PT on May 19, covering the latest capabilities in multimodal processing, media generation, and robotics. On the same day, a Chrome session will discuss new browser features planned for 2026, though no further details are provided in the session listing. Google Play will also be discussed on May 19, with the session seemingly aimed at developers and businesses building on the platform.

Android XR doesn't appear explicitly in the sessions list beyond a mention of Adaptive Everywhere in the Android 17 entry. Google has not confirmed whether a dedicated Android XR session will be announced before or during the keynote.

Google I/O 2026 takes place on May 19 and 20. The keynote will be streamed online and can be watched without registration.
