Arctic, a well-known manufacturer of PC air and water coolers, has made a commitment to use the tariff refunds it received from the US government to lower the price of its products. This is notable because it's in stark contrast to the approach Nintendo has opted for, believing it has no obligation to pass these refunds onto consumers.

Arctic is cutting the prices of its entire product line-up, not just the items initially affected by the tariffs. The new, lower prices can already be seen on the company's official pages on Amazon and eBay in the US.

"When US trade tariffs significantly increased, Arctic proactively absorbed as much of the tariffs as possible to protect our customers," the company said in a blog post (via PC Gamer).

"While most of the product line-up remained unaffected, price adjustments became necessary for a limited number of products in the US market. At the time, Arctic committed to reversing those increases if circumstances allowed."

Arctic's goal is that "every recovered dollar is returned to the market through across-the-board retail price cuts". Those cuts will remain in effect until "every single dollar Arctic received from the tariff refund has been paid back to our customers".

Arctic is also using some of that money to fund community initiatives related to technology education and grassroots PC communities in the US. "We remain committed to fair pricing and making things right for the builders who support Arctic," the company said.

In 2025, US President Donald Trump imposed wide-reaching and severe import tariffs that affected practically all products with components manufactured outside of the country. In response, these companies raised their prices, though some absorbed the charges. The games industry was among the industries affected, with Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft all raising the cost of their products, though without directly naming tariffs as the reason why.

In February of this year, almost a year after their introduction, the US Supreme Court struck down the tariffs, ruling them unconstitutional. Affected companies have since submitted requests for refunds, and Nintendo went a step further and sued the Trump administration.

While companies have started receiving their refunds, most are content to keep the money to themselves, rather than pass them on to customers who bought their marked up products. Many have called on companies to offer refunds to consumers, and there are currently multiple lawsuits filed against both Nintendo and Sony in this regard. Nintendo recently responded to one such lawsuit, claiming it has no obligation to to pass tariff refunds onto customers, while Sony is set to respond to recently-consolidated similar lawsuits later this month.
