Two beloved Brookline businesses have both announced their plans to close.

Golden Temple, the renowned Chinese restaurant, has officially closed its doors, while Party Favors, a bakery and party store, said it will close mid-July. Both Beacon Street businesses shared parting words with their customers on their websites and social media pages.

“Since our very first day, your loyalty, warmth, and shared memories have been the true heart of this establishment,” Golden Temple said Saturday on Facebook. “It has been our greatest honor and privilege to host your family dinners, milestone celebrations, and everyday moments across generations.”

The Chinese restaurant, which opened 66 years ago, built a reputation as one of the most popular spots in Washington Square. It was also known for its E Room bar, which included late-night dining, a house DJ, and weekend clubbing, according to the restaurant’s website.

“While this chapter is coming to a close, the profound gratitude we hold for your decades of unwavering support will remain with us always,” Golden Temple said. “Thank you for making us a part of your lives.”

Party Favors, which offered homemade cakes and party supplies, will have its last day in business July 15. Owners John and Mary Lynn Pergantis similarly said in a message to the community that they were entering “the next chapter of our lives.”

“For 35 years, you have allowed us to be part of your birthdays, weddings, graduations, baby showers, holidays, and so many of life’s special moments,” Party Favors said Saturday on Facebook. “We have watched families grow, celebrated milestones with generations of customers, and built friendships that we will cherish forever.”

Party Favors will be closed Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays as the final day in business approaches. Until then, decor, plates, napkins, cards, and candy will be 50 percent off storewide, according to the party store’s website.

“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your loyalty, kindness, and support throughout the years,” the business said on Facebook. “It has truly been an honor and a privilege to serve you.”

Neither restaurant publicly revealed specifics about why they decided to close. They did not immediately respond to requests for comment Sunday afternoon.
