Love for the cult classic spin-off is far from being (un)dead.
The post Capcom Aims For Another Hit As ‘Resident Evil Veronica’ Remake Tops 2M Wishlists appeared first on Geek Culture.
Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil Veronica remake is already gaining traction long before its release, as the game has now hit an impressive milestone by achieving over 2 million wishlists.
Announcing the achievement on social media, Capcom thanked players for the enthusiastic reaction to the game, which is set to launch some time in 2027. While wishlists might not necessarily equate to how well it will actually sell upon release, it is a good indicator of audience interest, meaning the studio might have another hit on its hands following its already strong 2026 performance thanks to hits like Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, and Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection.
Announced in June at Summer Game Fest, Resident Evil Veronica is a remake of the 2000 franchise spin-off, Resident Evil – Code: Veronica, which became a cult classic among fans even though it didn’t quite hit the same heights as its mainline franchise brethren. Fans have been clamouring for the studio to remake the title following its success with bringing the second, third, and fourth titles to the modern age, and now that their wish has been granted, excitement for the upcoming game is at an all-time high.
Following the remake’s announcement, it was also revealed that the game would be handled by the same core members of the team that made 2019’s Resident Evil 2 and 2023’s Resident Evil 4, and that Resident Evil Veronica will also be played from a third-person perspective, giving fans the confidence that this upcoming remake will be as well-built as its predecessors.
The original 2000 title saw series veteran Claire Redfield on a search for her missing brother Chris, another familiar face in the franchise. One half of the game is played as Claire, while the other half is spent with her brother, so it’s likely that Resident Evil Veronica will follow suit. Additionally, the development team previously explained that they will be tweaking the original game’s storyline to make it fit better in the wider Resident Evil narrative, so that means that there will still be some surprises in store for returning players.
