The best of the internet’s cat videos are coming to the big screen next week. CatVideoFest is a 70-minute selection of all things feline —silly, cuddly, sentimental and comedic—that’s playing in independent theaters in the U.S. and Canada.
A portion of ticket proceeds benefit cat-focused charities, shelters, and animal welfare organizations. Since 2019, it’s raised over $1 million.
Oscilloscope Laboratories, an indie distributor, presents a compilation of the latest and best cat videos culled from countless hours of unique submissions and sourced animations, music videos, and classic internet powerhouses.
This is its ninth year.
Cat Video Fest has a global presence that’s extended to the UK, Denmark, France, Spain, Japan, and Brazil. In 2024, the screenings made over $1 million at the box office.
In the early days, it was a bit of a process trying to convince independent movie theaters to program Cat Video Fest. But Oscilloscope Laboratories has found that one year is all it takes to get past that hurdle.
Current theatrical partners include Alamo Drafthouse, IFC Center, Nitehawk, Vidiots, Laemmle and Music Box. The screenings attract all varieties of audiences, from kids and cat ladies to hipsters and grandparents and everyone in between.
Oak Cliff’s historic Texas Theatre and Galaxy Theatres Grandscape in The Colony are also taking part.

Cats that live outdoors but are not feral have long fallen outside Dallas city code. Advocates and Dallas Animal Services are pushing to add “community cats” to the ordinance to provide clearer rules and education. NBC 5’s David Goins has more.
